It can take up to half a hour to have a single
pull. The teams are of equal men and have a
anchorman at the end of the rope. |
The tug-o-war was a hard battle this year and
the final had a exiting finish, all the teams
battled there hardest to win the title. But it
was take by Elgin.
If you would like to know a little of the
history of the tug-o-war go to the Tomintoul
Highland Games 2008 Page as there is some videos of the tug-o-war
with a sound track on the subject. Two teams
compete against each other with a long rope,
with a centre marker on the rope and two markers
equal distance from the marker at the rope
centre, the first team to pull the rope marker
of the opposite team past a post set into the
ground, at the position of the centre marker at
the start of the pull wins.
