Waulking the Cloth
This session gives visitors a chance to learn more
about waulking the cloth, ask questions and also
participate in the process. Waulking songs (Scots
Gaelic: Orain Luaidh) are traditionally sung by
women while waulking the cloth. This practice
involved a group of ladies sitting around a table
and beating newly woven tweed rhythmically against
the table.

writing on a slate or with a dip pen; to perhaps
being threatened with the strap!
