THE WORLD PORRIDGE
MAKING CHAMPIONSHIP
Carrbridge Highlands of Scotland The annual World
Porridge Making Championships is followed with
interest by connoisseurs of the traditional national
dish across the globe. The event, held in the small
Scottish Highland village of Carrbridge, attracts an
international line up of professional chefs and
amateur porridge makers from far and wide all keen
to prove they can make a perfect bowl of porridge
and are worthy of claiming the world championship
title and prestigious Golden Spurtle trophy. As well
as the traditional porridge, contenders are also
invited to enter the speciality section in which
porridge is
combined with other ingredients with marks given for
taste, consistency and creative presentation. The
action packed programme includes a pipe band parade
of judges and competitors, the official "Toast to
the Porridge", food stalls, product tasting, cookery
demonstrations and live music. Other events during
the day also include the annual Carrbridge Challenge
5km and 3km Forest Run and a minis' fun run with
fund raising for Maggie's Highlands. The World
Porridge Making Championship 2009 is to be held in
Carrbridge on Sunday October 11th. For more
